Current State

m/o1976 Mercedes Benz 0305 Mark 2 was built by PMC sometime in 1978. This vehicle is one of the example of the second Genteration of the Mercedes Benz 0305 Mark 2 that entered Service and 550 of these were built between 1978 till 1980.

These Operated apart of the Government Fleet till around 2008 and Served All depots during there time and including Newcastle.

This type of vehicle replaced the last of the Tramway replacment Buses which were AEC Regal and Leyland Royaltiger Worldmaster ERT Underfloors back from the late 1950s till the closure of the Tramway System back in February 1961.

This vehicle was New to Ryde Depot in 1978 and was one of the Buses that spent most of its life at the One depot and served areas like Ryde Victoria Road Gladesville Balmain and the Sydney CBD. This bus was one of the ones that was never Overhauled and stayed in its Original Livery till the end of its days in Government Service. This bus was withdrawn around the late 90s. This bus is now owned by the Sydney Road Transport Museum at Oakville and is to be restored into its 1978 Condition till when it was new .
